Historical Commercial Vehicles on a Grand Journey through the Braunschweiger Land
On October 3, 2026, the historic BÜSSING headquarters in Braunschweig will transform into the starting point of an impressive discovery experience: During the 8. BÜSSING Elm-Departure, historical commercial vehicles of various brands will roll through the Elm, past Wolfenbüttel to the Municipal Museum Schloss Salder in Salzgitter.
Start at the historic BÜSSING headquarters
From 9:00 AM, the historical vehicles will arrive at the former BÜSSING delivery yard at Heinrich-Büssing-Ring. Amidst shiny metal, distinctive vehicle technology, and an industrial historical atmosphere, visitors will experience the vehicles up close. At 10:00 AM, the convoy will start for the joint departure.
Through the Elm and the Braunschweiger Land
The route leads through Klein Schöppenstedt, Cremlingen, Destedt, Hemkenrode, Erkerode, Ampleben, Eilum, and Dettum, continuing towards Wolfenbüttel and Salzgitter. The varied route connects historical commercial vehicles with the landscapes of the Elm and the villages of the Braunschweiger Land. For photographers and tech enthusiasts, there are special motifs along the route with the impressive vintage vehicles.
Rest at the Schlossmuseum Salder
At around 12:00 PM, the convoy will reach the Municipal Museum Schloss Salder in Salzgitter-Salder. During the rest, conversations, refreshments, and a group photo are on the agenda. The museum provides a fitting cultural-historical framework for the tour with its exhibition areas on mobility and agriculture. Visiting the museum is free during the event.
Return trip and conclusion in Braunschweig
At about 3:00 PM, the return journey will begin along a different route through Salzgitter, the B 248, and the A 39 back to the BÜSSING headquarters. Around 4:00 PM, the departure will end at Heinrich-Büssing-Ring. Visitors will experience tangible technology history, authentic industrial culture, and a convoy that brings regional vehicle history to life.
Important notes for participants
Historical commercial vehicles of all brands and types are invited to participate. As a short section goes over the highway, participating vehicles must be registered for the highway. Registration for vehicles can be done directly with the Heinrich Büssing – Technology and History e. V. Association. Spectators and photographers are warmly welcomed.
