When the Christmas Party Gets Out of Hand
In the mirror tent at Martinikirche, the anniversary season of the Braunschweig Winter Theater begins with a celebration that everyone knows but nobody wants to experience: The Christmas Party returns in 2026 with a new cast and transforms the pre-Christmas office routine into a pointed stage comedy.
Between the Boss's Speech and Awkward Secret Santa Gifts
The dramaturgy targets the familiar rituals of a company party: a speech from the management, questionable karaoke performances, odd secret Santa gifts, and conversations that become riskier with each drink. From small embarrassments grows a comedic pull, in which the social facade starts to crack.
Comedic Stage Experience in the Mirror Tent
The historic mirror tent creates a unique theater atmosphere. Under the purplish canopy, festive mood, immediate proximity to the ensemble, and the audience's tense anticipation come together. The set design, lighting ambiance, and the intimate acoustics of the tent provide the perfect setting for quick dialogues, sharply observed situations, and physically expressive acting.
New Cast, Familiar Pre-Christmas Madness
With Sascha Münnich, Markus Schultze, Maike Jacobs, Louie, Kathrin Reinhardt, Julia Wunderlich, Lutz Sauerbier, Burkhard Bauche, Ronald Schober, and Nathalie Dinter, a versatile ensemble takes the stage. The directorial work relies on precise timing and escalating comedy that turns the seemingly harmless celebration into a turbulent social game.
An Evening for Those Who Prefer to Observe Their Own Party
The performance lasts about 135 minutes and includes a break of approximately 30 minutes. The piece is recommended for ages 14 and up. The special allure lies in the mix of recognition, musical moments, and the audience reaction that arises when exactly what is best left unspoken at the real workplace happens on stage.
Conclusion: The Christmas Party promises a fast-paced theatrical experience with a satirical look at group dynamics, hierarchy, and pre-Christmas sociability. Those who want to experience Christmas once without their own awkward moments, but with plenty of enjoyment, should secure their seat in the mirror tent.
