All children are winners at the 2nd Children's Run at the Westbahnhof
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the Ringgleis at the Westbahnhof in Braunschweig will transform into an active running track for little sports fans. At the 2nd Children's Run, families experience quality time together, children's laughter, and a motivating family experience without performance pressure.
Running fun on the historic Ringgleis
The start is located under the Graffiti bridge at the Ringgleis. The course leads towards Hugo-Luther-Straße, through the birch grove, and back to the finish area. Children discover their surroundings from a new perspective and combine movement with curiosity and learning fun.
Age-appropriate runs for kindergarten and elementary school children
The kindergarten run over 600 meters starts at 1:00 PM. For elementary school children, the 1000-meter run follows at 1:40 PM. The division by year groups creates age-appropriate conditions and gives children the opportunity to find their own pace. Adults are allowed to accompany their children and place themselves behind the children running alone in the starting lineup.
Medal, finish refreshments, and joy instead of time pressure
There is deliberately no timing. The focus is on movement, courage, and community spirit. Every participating child receives a medal and refreshments at the finish. A small accompanying program complements the children's run and makes the stay enjoyable for the whole family.
Safety and registration
For both runs, a total of 100 starting places are available. Registration is required. Participation is at one's own risk. During the event, the Ringgleis area at the Westbahnhof will be closed from approximately 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM; the detour leads via the street Am Westbahnhof.
Conclusion: A children's run with heart
The 2nd Children's Run at the Westbahnhof combines child-friendly movement, fair conditions, and a strong sense of community. Families experience a sporty afternoon where every child receives recognition and proudly crosses the finish line. Sign up now and experience this special family event live in Braunschweig.
