Positive Activism: Acting creatively, connecting people
How can social issues be made visible without stopping at protest and discussion? The event Positive Activism invites you on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to the House of Encounter in Braunschweig. Between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, ideas for creative, human, and impactful actions in public space will emerge.
Creativity as a tool for social engagement
The focus is on the search for new forms of action that bring people together and convey political or human concerns in unusual ways. Whether loud or quiet, playful or powerful, humorous or touching: Participants will explore various ways to attract attention and encourage others to get involved.
Hands-on experimentation in a protected space
The event planning emphasizes practical experiences. Initial ideas will be developed and tested together before they find their way into public space. An open event atmosphere is created, where different talents have space: Circus enthusiasts, reserved activists, and everyone in between.
With Astrid Köhler and the Action Alliance Aunt Trottoir
The workshop will be led by Astrid Köhler, actress and artist of the collective The Wonderful Action Alliance of Aunt Trottoir. The collective combines performing arts, performance, and social engagement. The event thus falls within the realm of democracy education, cultural practice, and activating educational work.
Who is the event suited for?
Positive Activism is aimed at people who want to make a topic visible and are looking for suitable forms of engagement. Personal topics or already developed action ideas are welcome to be brought along, but are not a prerequisite for participation. The focus is on encounter, inspiration, and jointly developing concrete possibilities.
Conclusion: Shaping society with courage and imagination
Visitors can expect a creative workshop day with practical exercises, new perspectives, and space for collective experimentation. Those who want to translate social concerns not just into discussion, but into a connecting action will experience an inspiring event at the House of Encounter with audience atmosphere, creativity, and personal exchange.
