Swap Christmas decorations and enjoy fair chocolate
Sustainable through the pre-Christmas season: On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Braunschweig Sustainability Center invites you to a Christmas decoration swap with a fair chocolate tasting. From 2 to 5 PM, a special shopping experience centered around reuse, climate protection, and fair trade will take place at Bohlweg 55.
New favorite pieces for the Advent season
If you have unused Christmas baubles, tree ornaments, functional string lights, or other Christmas decoration items at home, bring them to the swap event. On-site, you can exchange your pieces for new favorite decorations. This way, treasured items find a second home and become part of a new Christmas story.
Market atmosphere with a sustainable focus
The event combines the familiar anticipation of Christmas with practical waste avoidance. Colorful tree ornaments, shiny baubles, and atmospheric string lights create a festive ambiance. At the same time, the organizers demonstrate how conscious swapping conserves resources and makes sustainable consumption visible in everyday life.
Fair chocolate tasting by Fairtrade Germany
Fairtrade Germany accompanies the afternoon with a tasting of fair chocolate. While trying, visitors learn more about fair trade and its significance not only during Christmas time. This culinary highlight complements the swap event with enjoyment and background knowledge about responsibly produced products.
Organized together in Braunschweig
The organizers are the Braunschweig Sustainability Center, Fairtrade Germany, and the association Fair in Braunschweig e.V. The Christmas decoration swap is part of the November program of the Sustainability Center, featuring free workshops, lectures, and interactive formats on climate protection and sustainability.
The conclusion: For those looking for festive decorations, wanting to pass on unused pieces, and appreciating fair enjoyment, the Sustainability Center offers a free, climate-friendly afternoon. Bring your well-preserved Christmas decorations and discover new favorite pieces for the Advent season on-site.
