An evening full of excitement and memory: In Memoriam Hardy Crueger
On October 29, 2026, Augustinum Braunschweig dedicates an impressive memorial reading to the writer Hardy Crueger as part of the Braunschweiger Krimifestival. Roland Kremer will read from Crueger's last work The Boatswain as well as from other texts by the regionally closely tied crime author.
Literary traces from Braunschweig
Hardy Crueger studied history and sociology and lived as a freelance writer in Braunschweig. His work includes crime novels, thrillers, historical novels, and suspense short stories, often set along the Oker river. With precise observation, regional sensitivity, and atmospheric tension, he shaped the city's crime scene.
Roland Kremer brings Crueger's texts to the stage
Roland Kremer will take over the reading. The cultural mediator, storyteller, entertainer, musician, and moderator has extensive stage experience. For ten years, he moderated the Braunschweiger Poetry Slams and also initiated the Braunschweiger Science Slam in 2008. His stage performance combines linguistic presence, timing, and immediate closeness to the audience.
The last novel in focus
Special attention will be given to the crime novel The Boatswain, which Hardy Crueger completed shortly before his death. The novel was originally intended to be presented at the 2025 Krimifestival. The memorial reading creates a special literary moment: excitement, memory, and the distinctive voice of an author converge in the concentrated live atmosphere of Augustinum.
A legacy for the regional crime scene
Crueger founded the KrimiWerkstatt Braunschweig in 2006 and supported numerous authors there. In 2021, he received a literary scholarship from the city of Braunschweig. His commitment to creative writing and his connection to the region continue to have an impact beyond his books.
Conclusion: Experience literature live
This memorial reading combines literary tension with personal memory. Visitors will experience Roland Kremer with texts from Hardy Crueger's last novel and other works – a concentrated concert experience for the voice, an atmospheric evening for crime fans, and a moving tribute to a significant Braunschweig writer.
