Creative Writing in Braunschweig: FiBS Workshop for Young People

Finding Your Own Stories: Creative Writing at the Braunschweig City Library

On October 15, 2026, the Braunschweig City Library invites young people between 14 and 18 years to a full-day writing workshop as part of FiBS – Holidays in Braunschweig. From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, space will be created for ideas, language, and the first personal steps towards literary writing.

Writing Exercises, Games, and New Perspectives

Creative writing often begins with an unusual thought, a precise image, or a character that suddenly develops a life of its own. The workshop uses writing exercises and literary games that encourage participants to leave their writing comfort zone and explore new narrative possibilities.

Discovering Your Own Style

At the center is the individual art of language. Participants will learn how narrative scenes emerge from observations, memories, and ideas. It will cover style, perspective, character development, and the question of what linguistic tools lend tension and literary quality to a story.

From Idea to Your Own Book

Apart from generating ideas, the writing workshop provides tips and tricks for developing a personal project. Questions regarding the publication of a book are also part of the program. Thus, the event combines practical writing practice with an insight into the literary creation process.

Literary Experience for Young People

On this day, the city library will become a creative writing space: a concentrated, inspiring atmosphere where words are tried, discarded, and recombined. The literary experience targets young people who want to write stories, get to know their writing style, or simply are curious about the possibilities of language.

Conclusion: Writing Begins with the First Sentence

The FiBS writing workshop offers young people a practical introduction to creative writing and encourages them to take their own ideas seriously. The number of participants is limited, and registration is required. Those who want to experience their stories not only in their heads but on paper will find the right space for the first sentence here.
