Welcome to imaginative picture book moments in Braunschweig
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Braunschweig City Library invites families to the picture book cinema in Weststadt. Starting at 4:30 PM, children and their companions will experience a child-friendly connection between a read-aloud story and large-format images.
Stories come to life
In the picture book cinema, the illustrations of a picture book appear large on the projection screen while the text is read aloud. This creates a special family experience filled with children's laughter, wonder, and shared time. Children dive into the world of images and words, discovering new characters, exciting situations, and imaginative stories.
Age-appropriate learning fun for children
The format supports the joy of books and language. Listening, looking at pictures, and developing their own thoughts about the narrative playfully strengthens attention, imagination, and language development. The calm atmosphere in the library creates a protected environment for age-appropriate learning experiences and curious questions.
Family-friendly and free
The picture book cinema is aimed at children and their families. Admission is free, and registration is not required. During the event, the library is only partially accessible. Parents and companions can enjoy a brief, focused break with child-friendly literature and ample space for shared discussions about the story.
An afternoon full of imagination
From the first image to the last sentence, a little cinema in the mind is created that invites children to think along and feel along. The picture book cinema connects cultural education, reading promotion, and family time in an uncomplicated way. Those who wish to experience literature together will find a warm and safe place for curiosity, development, and joy in reading here.

The Picture Book Cinema Weststadt offers families a special afternoon filled with large images, read stories, and valuable shared time. Mark your calendar now and experience the magic of books live at the city library.
