Young Contemporary Art Between Graduation and Departure
The Art Association Braunschweig presents the exhibition Nothing is ever really lost featuring the master's students of the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig from October 17 to November 8, 2026. The opening will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 7 PM.
The exhibition brings together 17 artistic positions and demonstrates how diverse contemporary art from the environment of HBK Braunschweig evolves. Painting, sculpture, installation, and other forms of expression come together, offering a focused view of current questions, materials, and visual languages.
An Exhibition as a Transition
After graduating from the degree program in Fine Arts, particularly qualified students have the opportunity to realize their own artistic projects independently in the two-semester master's program. The exhibition marks an important step from academia into the public sphere.
Some works were created specifically for this presentation, while others stemmed from final theses or were further developed for the spaces of the Art Association. This creates an exhibition situation where different media, ways of thinking, and forms of artwork interpretation enter into dialogue.
Diversity of Current Artistic Positions
The exhibition title Nothing is ever really lost refers to the ongoing impact of artistic processes. Ideas, materials, and experiences do not simply disappear; they re-emerge in altered forms. Visitors will encounter a young art scene whose works oscillate between personal research, societal observation, and experimental form-finding.
The curation by Monja Remmers relies on the productive tension between the individual positions. In the exhibition atmosphere, concentrated individual works interact with spatial contexts. Light, surface, volume, and materiality shape the aesthetic experience and invite viewers to grasp the works not only intellectually but also sensuously.
Cultural Education and Accompanying Program
The Art Association accompanies the exhibition with public tours, artist talks, and a closing event. Discussions on October 22 and November 1 provide insights into artistic working methods and curatorial decisions. The exhibition concludes on November 8 with additional artist talks and a closing event.
Families can also find access to the exhibition: A flashlight tour as part of FiBS invites visitors on October 25 to discover art playfully and attentively. Thus, the exhibition connects art historical expertise with cultural education and immediate aesthetic experience.
The Involved Master's Students
Works by Johanna Altgaßen, Claudia Bartholomäus, Juan Blanco, Wiebke Fischer, Hannah Güse, Carolin Hegerath, Hendrik Heissenberg, Hye-Hyun Kim, Juri Kim, Torben Laib, Jana Michal, Patrick Neugebauer, Agnes Schmid, Daphne Schüttkemper, Marianna Tyralla, Rubia Rose, and Frederic Mac Vetter will be exhibited.
The exhibition is the result of long-standing cooperation between the Art Association Braunschweig and the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig. It thus provides insight not only into current art production but also into the transition of young artists from academic training into professional public life.
