Young Art in Conversation: Insights into Working Methods and Perspectives

On Sunday, November 8, 2026, Juan Blanco, Hannah Güse, Hye Hyun Kim and Jana Michal will meet at the Kunstverein Braunschweig for an artist talk. Moderated by Jule Hillgärtner, the master students from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig will discuss their artistic practice and the experiences that accompanied them during their master's year.

Art arises in exchange

The conversation is part of the exhibition Nothing is ever really lost – Master Students of HBK Braunschweig 2026. The exhibition presents current artistic positions of young graduates and makes visible how diverse contemporary art is developed from the environment of HBK Braunschweig. Painting, sculpture, installation, and other forms of expression come together, providing different approaches to current questions, materials, and visual languages.

From the studio to the public

The two-semester master's program offers particularly qualified graduates of the Fine Arts program the opportunity to further develop their own projects independently. The exhibition at the Kunstverein marks an important step from the academic context into the public sphere. The artist talk makes this transition directly experienceable: ideas, research processes, and decisions in the development of works enter into a dialogue with curation, criticism, and mediation.

Aesthetic experience and cultural education

The event combines focused work observation with cultural education. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the exhibition atmosphere of the Villa Salve Hospes not only visually but also through the voices of the participating artists. Questions regarding materiality, spatial effect, artistic attitude, and contemporary art direction will serve as starting points for an open aesthetic experience.

A conversation within the exhibition

The Kunstverein Braunschweig and the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig continue their long-standing cooperation with this exhibition. Curated by Monja Remmers, the exhibition brings together 17 artistic positions and accompanies the conclusion of the master's year with public tours, artist talks, and a finissage. The conversation with Juan Blanco, Hannah Güse, Hye Hyun Kim, and Jana Michal is the kickoff for the last day of the exhibition.

Conclusion: Experience contemporary art firsthand

Anyone looking for young contemporary art, personal insights into artistic processes, and a lively exhibition atmosphere will find an inspiring art experience at the Kunstverein Braunschweig. The artist talk invites participants to take a closer look at the works, gain new perspectives on the exhibition, and directly experience the transition from academia to the professional art world.
