Quartet Oya brings Soul, Jazz and Latin to KULT
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the Quartet Oya will transform KULT in Braunschweig into a space for soulful grooves, fiery Latin rhythms, and musical dynamics. The concert starts at 8:00 PM and combines modern original compositions with idiosyncratic rearrangements of well-known tracks.
A sound between Soul, Jazz and Latin
Oya relies on a diverse music cocktail: The band blends Soul and Jazz with Cuban Salsa classics. The repertoire includes pieces by Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Norah Jones, and Amy Winehouse as well as compositions by Kurt Klose. Between intimate passages and powerful highlights, a live atmosphere full of feeling and fire is created.
Four musicians, a dynamic concert experience
Sabine Wucherpfennig takes on vocals, Kurt Klose plays piano, Heike Busche plays bass, and Martin Flathe combines drums with congas and Batá. The instrumentation opens up space for precise synchronization, rhythmic changes, and expressive solo passages. Especially Klose's arrangements give the quartet a distinct musical character.
Experience from Jazz, Soul, and Salsa
The formation, established in 2011, unites musicians with many years of stage experience. All four members belong to the nationally known and award-winning Salsa orchestra LABIBA. Wucherpfennig has been a lead singer in various big bands since the 1990s. Bassist Heike Busche has been active in Latin, Blues, and Jazz for 35 years, while Flathe gained cross-genre experience in numerous Latin formations.
Audience atmosphere with feeling and fire
Oya's stage performance thrives on the interplay of grooving bass, colorful piano, percussive energy, and expressive vocals. Previous concert reports describe a lively audience mood, enthusiastic applause for instrumental solos, and an audience that sings along during encores. In KULT, this sound meets an intimate concert atmosphere with direct proximity to the stage.
Conclusion: Experience Soul and Latin live in Braunschweig
The Quartet Oya promises a concert at KULT that balances danceable Latin grooves, velvety Soul, and jazzy playfulness. Anyone wishing to experience handcrafted arrangements, strong voices, and rhythmic stage energy up close will find a special concert evening in Braunschweig on October 10, 2026.
