Klangfarben in Braunschweig: Three Choirs Create a Special Concert Afternoon

Klangfarben: A Multi-Voiced Choir Day at Augustinum Braunschweig

On October 16, 2026, Augustinum Braunschweig transforms into a musical meeting point for choral singing, well-known melodies, and maritime soundscapes. The choir afternoon Klangfarben features three choirs from Braunschweig and showcases how diverse communal singing can sound.

Music of the Baby Boomers Opens the Afternoon

At 3:30 PM, the project choir of the Braunschweig Police Choir takes the stage with the music of the Baby Boomers. Between the Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, and Udo Jürgens, a nostalgic yet vibrant choral sound emerges that evokes memories and impresses with precise synchronization and a lot of stage energy.

Maritime Songs with the Braunschweig Shanty Choir

At 4:45 PM, the Braunschweig Shanty Choir takes the audience on a musical journey across the world's oceans. Maritime songs tell of sailors' longings and loves, while traditional shanties bring the working rhythm of old sailing ships into the concert hall. Multi-voiced singing, striking melodies, and an immediately palpable audience atmosphere characterize this performance.

Vocal Total Devotes Itself to Happiness

At 6:00 PM, the choir Vocal Total, conducted by Burkhard Bauche, concludes the event. In the current program, Glück gehabt! songs, choirs, and ballads from different eras come together. The musical dramaturgy ranges from cheeky and poppy moments to reflective passages and connects different sound colors into an entertaining finale.

An Afternoon Full of Voices and Moods

Klangfarben thrives on the diversity of its ensembles: nostalgic pop music, sea shanties, and a thematically broad choir program meet in a shared concert atmosphere. Augustinum Braunschweig offers a protected indoor space with concentrated acoustics and personal closeness between the stage and the audience.

The audience can expect a varied choir afternoon with three independent performances and a wide range of music styles. Those who love choral music, well-known classics, and communal live atmosphere experience Klangfarben best on site.
