Rise Up and Sing: Gospel Sounds for a Good Cause in Braunschweig
On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Braunschweig Spiritual Choir invites you to its traditional year-end concert at St. Johannis Church. From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the benefit concert combines inspiring spirituals and gospels with a fundraising campaign for the children's hospice Löwenherz.
Between A-cappella Sound and Grooving Gospel Energy
The program is titled Rise Up and Sing and focuses on musical diversity: challenging a cappella choral music meets instrumentally accompanied pieces and solo performances. In the special acoustics of St. Johannis Church, the voices unfold their full depth, while rhythmic gospel passages create movement and a lively audience atmosphere.
Spirituals with History and Message
The Braunschweig Spiritual Choir is dedicated to a musical tradition whose African-American roots remain audible and palpable to this day. The current repertoire includes, among others, African Alleluja. The sonorous message of this music connects choral singing, hope, and community into an intense concert experience.
Experienced Choir Work Under the Direction of Marcel Bönninger
The amateur choir, belonging to the Braunschweig parish of Riddagshausen-Gliesmarode, has been in existence for over four decades and has performed in approximately 300 concerts, even outside Germany. Critics highlight the freshness and vitality of the voices, the emotive interpretation, and the precise management of rhythm and dynamics. Under the direction of Marcel Bönninger, a stage performance is created that combines orchestration, synchronization, and emotional conducting.
Experience Music and Support Children's Hospice Löwenherz
Admission to this benefit concert is free. Donations for the children's hospice Löwenherz are requested at the exit. Thus, the concert evening combines musical closeness with concrete support for an important social cause.
Those who want to experience spirituals, gospel music, and expressive choral singing in a special live atmosphere will find an evening full of warmth, rhythm, and hope at St. Johannis Church. Secure your place and let yourself be touched by the power of shared voices.
